Let’s pretend the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution disallows any control over firearms (it doesn’t). Does this mean we must own guns? When are we as a society going to realize that guns have nothing to do with liberty and freedom?
Wanna go hunt deer? Great, we’ve got way too many around here and venison is good meat. Because deer are typically dumb herbivorous megafauna, you don’t need an impressive rifle. You don’t need a magazine full of bullets, or a semiautomatic firing mechanism. If you can’t get off a good enough shot and pull the bolt before the thing gets away, you’ll just have to be a better hunter.
Other than simple hunting rifles and shotguns, there is no reason to own a firearm, and independent of the Second Amendment, no sane reason not to create nation-wide laws to regulate and track firearms.
If you think this diminished your freedom, you are: 1) and idiot, and 2) a sociopath.
If you’re thinking, “Gee, isn’t this a little soon? Isn’t this exploiting a tragedy?” your are more than a sociopathic idiot, but I can’t find an appropriate moniker (perhaps syphilitic goat-fucking offspring of a rabid yak, but I’m still working on it).
This is exactly the time to have this discussion and not let it die. If you really think the jack-booted, blue-helmet thugs are going to come take you guns, you are clearly deranged and shouldn’t have been allowed a firearm in the first place.
We Americans have failed. We are all idiots. We are all guilty of child-muder.
